Steampunk is kind of an odd little genre, because it was basically science fiction back when steam was high tech. While I was working on this comic I read "The Steam Man of the Prairies" By Edward S. Ellis, which was a delightful, if dated, look at what was thought about innovation in the nineteenth century. It also made me think on how we categorize our current flavors of science fiction. My next duel will be exploring another sub genre of science fiction- transhuman.
Next weeks duel will be the last of the year, and of the "Fantastical Duels" series. Over the summer I will be printing all of the "Fantastical Duels" in a comic I will be featuring in the Flower City Comic Con. Next Year I will be doing another "Animals of the Apple series, but in 2025 I'll be back to "Epic Duels" by creating a new series called "Historical Duels". As the name implies that series will be focused on duels that actually happened.
